We created this support group after the public school our Autistic son attends, violated many things on his IEP (Individual Educational Program) as well as many things regarding IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).
I think like many parents, we assume that our public schools are looking out in the best interest of our children who are on the spectrum. However, this is not the case. As parents we need to learn our child's rights, as well as be a resource to other parents; by helping educate and be a valuable resource to other parents.
Our support group covers topics and issues like ours, as well as other things. We educate and advocate for parents with children on the spectrum.
